Change comes when you open yourself to it, when you're willing to accept it - at any
cost. You may be teaching students, but ELIC's China Teaching Fellowship (CTF) will also be
teaching you. Under the coaching of an experienced ELIC team leader, you will grow not only
in teaching ability, but also in leadership, team building, people skills and your own spiritual and
moral character. This is an opportunity for experiential learning - putting into practice the
knowledge and abilities with which you have been prepared. The following list includes
opportunities for your continued personal development and growth within the course of the CTF program:
|
| |
Orientation - Prior to departure for China, you'll spend
several days in Colorado with
all China Teaching Fellowship
instructors for training and orientation. This orientation program focuses
on cultural relationships, relationship
development, team building, and getting
to know ELIC as an organization. |
| |
In-country Orientation - Once you
arrive in China, you'll have a week set
aside with the CTF instructors and staff
to receive further training in the areas
of educational excellence, ESL
methodology, Chinese language and
culture. You'll also have time to
relax, bond with your team and enjoy the
sites of China. |
| |
Team leader mentoring - CTF team leaders provide support, guidance and wisdom to ensure
the growth of each of their team members for the duration of
the year. Through one-on-one
personal development meetings and weekly team studies, your team leader will assist you in
developing a personal growth study program.
|
| |
February conference in Thailand - Approximately 300 ELIC teachers will converge on
Thailand for approximately two weeks in February, when students are on vacation from school
for the Chinese New Year. This is an amazing time of restoration, support and
community-building for all teachers serving with ELIC.
|
| |
Debriefing in Beijing - Before heading home, you'll have an opportunity to spend
three days with your fellow CTF instructors in Beijing for a valuable time of reflection and
closure.

One of the strengths of the CTF Program is the emphasis placed on experiencing new culture and
broadening one's worldview. It's more than just a couple weeks, a short summer trip, or just a teaching job, this is an opportunity to spend a year interacting with
the Chinese culture while pouring yourself into the lives of others and sharing true hope and
encouragement through your actions and example.
