Imagine yourself in a classroom, teaching enthusiastic students the language you have used every day of your life - English. Imagine sharing your life, telling them your story, having them as friends. Imagine playing a significant role in their process of a major life transformation. You don't need to speak Chinese. You don't need to be a teacher by trade. You just need to be willing.

Your teaching adventure in China begins in early September.  You and your teammates will spend 10 months teaching English in private schools to Chinese students ranging in age from kindergarten to college. You will typically spend approximately 15-16 hours per week in the classroom, while your time outside the classroom will be spent preparing for the next day's lessons and interacting with your students and the Chinese teachers. You'll quickly discover that your students are enthusiastic to get to know you at a personal level and enjoy learning more about who you are.

China Teaching Fellowship was founded in 1997 as a program of English Language Institute/China (ELIC), the parent organization with over 25 years experience sending Christians into Asia to teach English and share life. Thousands of Chinese students await ELIC's arrival each year. Will you be there to offer them what they need most?

An important part of a successful China experience is good preparation before your departure. All CTF instructors will attend an orientation program in California just before leaving for China. There are four areas that will be emphasized at training: curriculum, language and culture, team building, and cultural relations. Teachers are equipped with basic teaching strategies as well as prepared for classroom management. It is through these sessions that instructors are also given guidelines on relationship building with their students. In addition, a team leader trained through ELIC will provide support for you and your entire team while you serve in China.

ELIC's China Teaching Fellowship will accept applications from college graduates up to age 27 with a B.A. or B.S. in any field. In addition, applicants must fit the following criteria:
